Everything you need to know about how GeoNote works
A location-based reminder is a notification triggered when you arrive at or leave a specific place, rather than at a set time. GeoNote uses geofencing technology to detect when you enter a defined area around a location and sends you a reminder automatically.
Geofencing uses your phone's GPS, WiFi, and cellular data to monitor your location in the background. When you create a reminder in GeoNote, you define a geographic boundary (geofence) around a place. When your device detects you've entered that area, GeoNote triggers a notification—without you having to open the app.
No. GeoNote uses native iOS and Android geofencing APIs, which are designed to be battery-efficient. Instead of constantly polling GPS, your phone monitors location changes intelligently, only activating precise location services when you're near a geofence. Most users see negligible battery impact.
Yes. GeoNote is built with privacy by design. Your location data is used only to trigger reminders and is stored locally on your device. We don't sell your data, track you for advertising, or share your location with third parties. Geofencing happens on-device, not on our servers.
Yes. Once you create a location reminder, it's stored locally on your device. Geofencing works offline because it relies on your phone's GPS and location services, not an internet connection. You'll only need connectivity if you want to sync reminders across multiple devices.
Accuracy depends on your phone's GPS and the radius you set. Typically, geofencing is accurate within 50-100 meters in urban areas with good GPS signal. You can adjust the radius of each reminder to account for accuracy and ensure you're notified at the right distance from a place.
Time-based reminders notify you at a specific time, regardless of where you are. Location-based reminders notify you when you physically arrive at a place. For tasks tied to locations—like picking up groceries or dropping off a package—location reminders are more relevant because they align with when you can actually complete the task.
Yes. GeoNote is being developed for both iOS (Apple App Store) and Android (Google Play Store) and uses each platform's native geofencing APIs for optimal performance and battery efficiency.
Pricing details will be announced closer to launch. GeoNote is designed to be affordable and accessible, with a focus on real value without ads or invasive tracking.
Shared reminders are on our roadmap for a future update. Initially, GeoNote will focus on personal location-based reminders, with plans to add collaboration features later.
GeoNote is coming soon! We're finalizing approval on the App Store and Google Play. Soon you'll be able to download the app and start using location-based reminders.
